About Junko Miura
Junko Miura's award-winning Ikebana creations make her one of New York's most acclaimed Ikebana artists and sought-after floral designers. A second-generation master in Ikenobo - Seigatsuha, the school honored Miura's artistry in 1972 by awarding her the exclusive honorific title, Shojun.
Over the past decade Miura has made New York City her home, and the city's vibrant energy is reflected in her work. Her designs boldly present the poetic essence of every bud, flower and branch in a unique style. One of her signature styles is the incorporation of sumi, the pure wood charcoal that has been made in Japan for more than 1,300 years.
Every arrangement is specific to the client's preferences, the site, and the season. Designs can be created for weddings, events, offices and homes.
Passing along the knowledge of Ikebana, Miura teaches master classes at her studio, and from time to time gives classes at the New York Botanical Garden and the New York Flower School by Michael George. Over the past five years, her students have won awards at New York's International Orchid Show for Best Ikebana, Best Artistic and Best Display.
